Before explaining the reasons behind this mini blog, first let me introduce myself. I'm a 25 y.o. junior investment analyst who was a big fan of the original TW. Anyway, as a child I used to play a lot of video games but I wasn't a hardcore gamer. Just had fun with friends. I've started playing TW about two years ago and w64 was my first world. My biggest achievement was the number 1 continent scorer award and by the time I had to quit for RL reasons I was twice the size of the guy ranked 2nd. My next (and last) world was w66 where I reached 12th place both in terms of points and ODA. When I could no longer manage the account due to the lack of time I merged with the world's number 2 at that time. When the merge was finally over, the account was ranked 1st and my contribution was about 40%-45% of the villages. A few months later I chose to join another account because I didn't like the prospects of joining a tribe, which IMO was full of cheaters. Even though my new account was in a really unfavourable situation, having tons of sits and being under constant attacks, including thousands of fakes every day, we have managed to stay in top 3. I sent multiple tickets against the above-mentioned tribe, just like many other players did, and I got sick of answers like "well, it may look suspicious but we can't detect any illegal scripts" or "not all approved scripts are public". BTW, that tribe was led by the owners of a software company who were "encouraging"(forcing) their employees to play TW but never got banned because that wasn't against the game rules. It was against my principles though, so I decided to quit. The account is currently ranked 1st and I hope it will stay that way until the end of w66
I didn't have enough time to participate in the closed beta, although I had a key. Started my village about two weeks ago and here are my impressions
The game interface is a lot more polished in comparison to TW but there is a lot of work to be done. Some unfixed major bugs represent a serious issue and the P2W model needs to be improved as it lacks the traditional premium account, farm assistant and account manager but incorporates features that give too big advantage of players spending a lot of money. Anyway, I'm confident that the developers will fix the bugs and those responsible for the P2W system will find a solution for players like me, willing to support the game but unwilling to take advantage of the current P2W features. So, I'm here for the open beta.
With this diary I would like to conduct an experiment. I'll be sharing details about my progress and strategy which is exactly the opposite of what one should be doing in this game. My aim is to survive as long as possible and make it at least to mid-game but I won't be disappointed if I get rimmed and will take it as a feedback. I'm really here just to have fun, so there is no way to see me plotting. As for now, I'll stay in the one man tribe Mass Recruiters Killer (MRK). The name says it all and is rather indicative of my plans Of course, someone may take me out right after the end of the beginners protection, so only time will show whether I'll be spamming for 4 days, 4 weeks or 4 months (or even longer)
3h30m after I started playing my village has 134 points and I'm ranked 99th in my kingdom and 927th in the world. In general, I'll be following the quests, most of which are useful and help a player grow faster. This is the first time ever I start in the core but the introduction of provinces make the players in the core not so disadvantaged to those on the rim, as it is in TW1. I'll try to get LC ASAP because LC is the most efficient unit as far as farming is concerned and everybody who has played TW knows that farming is a key aspect of the game. Troops will be my biggest priority and I don't care that much about points, really. A decent number of LC will potentially give me an advantage over those who will invest their resources in upgrading the resource buildings. Right now, my barracks are lvl 2, the resources are lvl 7 and I've a population of 161, of which 82 is in military. I'm located in the centre of the province which is a knife with two edges. On one had I've more potential noble target but on the other I'm a target for everyone haha As an optimist I think that the glass is half full See you tomorrow
P.S.
Obviously English isn't my first language but you should be able to understand me.
