if my army goes to support another friend's village, do they still take up MY provisions?

if they don't take up MY provisions... then will be problem if I recalled them and my village is already full?

what happens if my farm gets catapulted? do my excess troops automatically die?

yes , they still take up your provisions ... units take provision from their origin villa regardless where you sent them ...

no , your troops won't die but if your farm get catapulted you won't be able to recruit more troops/replace any units you lose until your current population become lower than your new farm max population ... in other words until you upgrade your farm again or lose enough troops to be under the max population again ...
