mounted archer and combat system

1) Is the mounted archer considered a cavalry unit or an archer unit? I want to know what defence type to use against them.

2) How does the combat system work exactly? Lets say the attacker has axemen and light cavalry and the defender has spearmen and swordsmen. Will each unit type defend first against the unit it has the best defence against? Would the spearmen defend against the light cavalry and the swordsmen against the axemen? or does the lc attack spearmen and swordsmen alike and the axemen the same?

1) Mounted archers are considered archer units, and are defended against best by archers.

2)Combat is sort of complicated: Here is a walkthrough from another source for TW1, but TW2 is similar (the attack and defense numbers won't match this game, but the process is similar):
From: http://forum.tribalwars.net/showthread.php?72505-Combat-Calculations

using 10 each of ax (40 att), lc (130 att) and ma (120 att) against 20 each of sp (15/45/20 def), sw (50/15/40) and ar (50/40/5).

in the first round, there is 400 InfAtt, 1300 CavAtt and 1200 ArchAtt. InfRatio is 14%, CavRatio is 45% and ArchRatio is 41%.

the combined defenses are 2300 InfDef, 2000 CavDef and 1300 ArchDef, before any ratios are applied.

the modified (after ratio) defenses are:
14% * 2300 = 317.2 InfDef
45% * 1300 = 896.6 CavDef
41% * 1200 = 537.9 ArchDef.

The total offensive power is what each percentage is based from.

after this ratio modification how does it go on? Who lives and who dies? How is that decided afterwards?
