How does the donation ranking work?

Could be a dumb question but I donate daily and usually a decent amount for where I am in the game but my weekly donation just stays at 1, what actually changes the number is it the amount sent?

lots of people one 1 and one guy had 34 so hes clearly mr money bags rn
