His/her troops return from dodging your attack unharmed. If he/she loses any of those troops in the future though, he/she will be unable to build them back until the Farm is restored to the level it once was at or greater. Around the clock attacks will eventually catch this player off guard and you will be able to clear the troops. Then its game over for that village without support coming in from another village for protection. Sending in your Noble with each full provisioned offensive attack will lower the village's loyalty with each strike until you take the village. Usually, the player will try to defend with the presense of a Noble in the attack. Hope that helps.
