Cannot Boost Barbarian Villes

For some reason i cannot boost barbarian villes on either of the worlds i play...
En7 and En9

Have boosts in items and can use on my villes but it wont let me boost a barb- when i click on the boost production - it brings up a box asking which resource i would like to boost and you scroll down slightly it registers that i dont have any with no option to buy it or use it as it is greyed out

can someone help me with this please

You can not boost barbarian with an item. Items can only be used on your own account.

when was this taken out of the game ?? as i have seen barbarian villes with yellow ring around saying they have been boosted ... on prev servers and also the 1 i am on where i wanted to impliment this....

why was this feature taken out of the game ???

It was not taken away. You can boost them for 35 crowns, but not with an item.
